Principle of operation

The principle of operation of the GrainSense device is based on an optical detection module and on additional mechanical and electronic systems with a Bluetooth connection to a mobile phone. The technical principle of the device is based on absorption spectroscopy in the near infrared region.

To take a measurement, the user first takes a control measurement using an empty sphere for the raw data, and then pours grain onto the holder glass and measures the filtered sample. From these two measurements, a one-time sample of the grain's absorption capacity (ACS) data can be determined, and then multivariate calibration algorithms are used to infer the protein, carbohydrate, oil and moisture concentration information in the measured ACS spectrum.

  • Proteins - laboratory grade precision in the field.
  • Humidity - Higher and higher accuracy even at high humidity levels.
  • Fat is a number to know for seed farmers.
  • Carbohydrates are a key ingredient in industrial use.

GrainSense is a laboratory in the hands of every farmer. The company introduces the world's first truly portable grain quality measuring device. This device will allow grain growers and herders to provide better control over the quality, value and price of their products.

Farm-level grain quality measurement technology

GrainSense has developed the world's first truly portable grain quality meter. The GrainSense handheld device measures the protein, moisture, oil and carbohydrate content of cereals and other crops, key metrics that determine the value of a crop and the cost of processing while the crop is still in the field. The device is battery powered, it only takes a few grains and a few seconds to complete the measurement without the need for preliminary preparation. The device includes positioning (GPS) and cloud connectivity to provide a range of value-added services to increase productivity and profitability. The device is competitively priced and available to individuals

Affordable price for private farmers

GrainSense it is the first grain quality measuring device that is affordable and reliable enough for use in the field that ordinary farmers can purchase and use it. International retail price for a horse total user will be € 3,900 (0% tax) including device, bag, measuring cup, cap and 1 year warranty. To use the device, you need to create a personal user account: € 250 / year (0% tax), which includes 4 crops, updates and calibration, unlimited data storage and the ability to exchange measurement results.

Laboratory precision directly on the field in seconds

For the first time, this will enable farmers, seed growers and breeders to quickly measure the key parameters of their crops and make the necessary decisions to increase profitability. The device will also allow meat producers to monitor and adjust feed protein content in real time, which can have a significant impact on profitability.

Unique features of the GrainSense device

The device is 5 times smaller than the nearest analogues and is powered by a rechargeable battery, so it is convenient to use it in the field conditions. It is at least 3 times cheaper than the nearest analogues.
